Every year, we end up back in the same conversation—what actually makes a rookie? Is it your first big part? Your first cover? The moment the industry catches on? Or is it something less tangible—timing, impact, presence?

The truth is, there’s no clean definition. And honestly, that’s the point. Snowboarding has never been black-and-white, and neither is this.

What we do know is when someone goes from “we’ve heard of you” to “yeah… we see you now.” And this year, two riders made that jump undeniable. And the winners are:

On the other side, Derek Lemke has been putting in the work for years. If you knew, you knew—but this season, the spotlight finally caught up. From heavy rail footage to a breakout part that turned heads across the board. No gimmicks, no shortcuts—just raw, undeniable snowboarding.
